The Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey is deeply saddened by the passing of former State Senator Sandra Bolden Cunningham.

Senator Cunningham was a trailblazer and a dedicated public servant who made history as the first woman from Hudson County to serve in the New Jersey State Senate. Throughout her distinguished career, she was a strong advocate for higher education, criminal justice reform, and creating greater opportunities for individuals and communities across New Jersey.

She was also a longtime supporter of the Women’s Political Caucus of New Jersey and a valued WPCNJ-endorsed candidate for many years. We are grateful for her partnership and her commitment to advancing women in public leadership.

We extend our deepest condolences to her family, friends, colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of working alongside her. Her legacy of leadership and service will continue to inspire future generations of New Jersey women leaders.
